J.A.G. Mines Ltd.: Announcement

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 8, 2009) - J.A.G. Mines Ltd. ("JML") (TSX VENTURE:JML) wishes to announce the resumption of the work on its Belleterre property located in the Temiscamingue area. The 77 claims cover 1,153 hectares in Guillet Township. A total of thirty-four (34) showings or mineralized zones are presently known on this property.

The mineral inventory of the "Aubelle zone" had been estimated in historical documents at 1,257,405 tons of resources grading 3,2g Au/t, corresponding to 4,032,685 grams or 129,647 ounces of gold. As no qualified person has done enough work to corroborate these historical estimates according to current standards, the Company does not consider these estimates as actual mineral resources.

Stripping and trenching done in 2008 showed that the Aubelle-1 vein extended 143 meters further east than what had been established previously.

Magnetometric and 3-D induced polarization surveys were completed in 2008 by Abitibi Geophysique of Val d'Or in an area covering 344,000 square meters centered on the Aubelle-1 vein. The instrumentation, the acquisition of data and their interpretation were all subjected to a system of ISO quality controls.

i) The 5.2 km magnetometric survey outlined six anomalies, four of which are unexplained and will have to be explored by drilling.

ii) The 6.1 km I.P. survey has located an important polarization source at the northern end of the lines surveyed and numerous chargeability anomalies in the south and southwest of the area covered.

In conclusion, the geophysicists of Abitibi Geophysique states that: "There is no doubt, in the author's mind, that there is a very promising potential for the discovery of new mineralized showings on the Aubelle property."

Based on the positive results obtained in 2008, the 2009 gold exploration program already in progress will be:

a) to continue eastward for 140 meters the trenching of the Aubelle-1 vein followed by mapping and channel sampling;

b) to find the cause, to prospect and trench if necessary the various geophysical targets identified;

c) to re-sample in detail the higher grade gold areas located by the stripping and sampling of 2008 (22 of 30 sections);

d) to explore by drilling (2,000 to 3000 meters) selected geophysical targets.

This press release was prepared with the approval of the board of Directors of the Company, by Mr. Jean-Raymond Frederic, Geologist and qualified person (43-101) and in charge of the supervision of the project.
