Premiere Vancouver Investment Conference #WRIC13 hosted by Cambridge House May 26&27 the Best Source of Information on the Mining Sector

on 5/2/2013

Jeremy Martin, one of the organizers of the World Resource Investment Conference in Vancouver, BC, hosted by Cambridge House sat down with Metals News to discuss their upcoming event to be held on May 26th and 27th, 2013.

This premier event will be held at the Vancouver Convention Centre and will feature many exhibitors, including those who specialize in exploration, mid-tier producers, bullion services, online researchers and mutual funds.  With a full schedule of workshops and panel discussions, the World Research Investment Conference will provide attendees with direct investment information, information on speculative investing, macro trends in the resource sector, economic analysis, the future outlook for mining and strategies that can be used now and in the future for effective investing.

Said Martin, “We are working with the exhibitors.  The show is coming up on May 26th and 27th in Vancouver.”  The World Resource Investment Conference is one of the most notable shows in North America for those companies and investors who work in the resource sector.  Martin said, “It is the premier show for this location about mineral investment.”  Hosting this show in Vancouver makes sense in that the city is a hub for many mining companies who have their headquarters there.  Martin said, “It is a great time of the year and a great destination for people traveling.”

The weekend event will be jam packed with speakers, presentations and panels that will offer professionals in the industry and investors the opportunity to get cutting edge news and investing techniques.  Martin said, “We have about 40 keynote speakers and presentations going on.”  In addition to the virtually constant presentations during the weekend, the show will feature many companies who will be displaying information about their exploration objectives and current resources.  Martin said, “We’ll have 200 companies on the floor.  This is very industry related.”

In addition to mining companies that will be exhibiting, the World Resource Investment Conference will feature something unusual – a squat pavilion.  Said Martin, “We will have a squat pavilion.  David Jenson, Rick Rule, they will be giving a number of presentations in that pavilion.”  The squat pavilion will feature a staffed team of investors who are ready to speak with companies.  Martin said, People have an opportunity to take a look at a lot of deals right now.  The squat team will be there writing checks.”  In fact, with a good presentation to the squat team, Martin believes new companies could come out of the World Resource Investment Conference.  He said, “There is the opportunity for someone to start running a company here.”

During the panel discussions and presentations, many different topics will be covered, including that of gold.  Martin said, “Gold has had a bit of a correction.  The charts in the last couple of days are showing a correction to get back up to that $1500 range.”  The volatility of the gold market is a wonderful reason for investors to take advantage of what the World Resource Investment Conference has to offer in terms of education.  Said Martin, “People should get into the workshops, get into the show and go and talk to representatives and ask them why they should invest in their company.”

Investors who choose to attend the World Resource Investment Conference will have the opportunity to hear exactly what is going on in the resource sector right now.  Martin said, “People are a little worried about where we are right now.  They don’t know if we are in a normal market cycle or in something different.  Some people don’t have money and others are just buckling down and just waiting it out.”  The focus of the conference is to make sure that companies and individual investors get the information they need to make smart decisions in the future.

One of the most unusual offerings of the World Resource Investment Conference is something they call the Venture Crisis Committee.  Said Martin, “There is a committee called the Venture Crisis Committee.  It was put together by a bunch of industry individuals and market makers to analyze and bring attention to what is causing the downturn.”  With the results from the committee, information is being dispersed to the industry and government officials to promote a more positive investing environment.  Martin said, “They are working with things like continued overregulation and other issues that the venture market has to live with when they are a unique industry.  They have also had a town hall meeting.”  Other initiatives have sparked interest in helping the securities end of the business.  Martin said, “There is a petition to allow non-registered security dealers to collect security fees.  You have to have intimate knowledge of the security and the client and the risk management is really dynamic.  They are putting rules in that if you are over 65 you can’t invest in high risk investments.  We are doing one session about the Venture Crisis Committee.  Thomas Caldwell, John McCoach, Don Moser, John Kaiser will be speaking during the convention.  We don’t have a lot of add-ons or anything like that.  Jeff Berwick will be speaking and he has really been on lately.  We will be doing a broadcast after and our YouTube channel has been getting a lot of views.”

Overall, the projection for the World Resource Investment Conference is positive.  Martin said, “Registration is up over last year.  Attendance is going to be great.  Companies that are paying to attend will get a really good bang for their buck.  People want to see how things are going. The crowd is made up of tangible investors who are a loyal audience.”
