Nearly one million dollars provided to increase the productivity of two Abitibi-Ouest businesses

The Government of Canada supports projects by Métal Marquis and Usinage Filiatrault

PALMAROLLE, QC, May 23, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Métal Marquis Inc. and Usinage Filiatrault Inc. will be able to continue their growth with the help of a total of $987,304 in repayable contributions from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions.

With $550,000 in financial assistance, Métal Marquis will be able to purchase state-of-the-art digital equipment and complete the necessary fit-up work to get it up and running. This project will allow the business to improve its productivity through the optimization of its operations to manufacture parts intended mainly for the mining industry. Usinage Filiatrault will use CED's $437,304 contribution to purchase state-of-the-art digital equipment and set up a point of service in Malartic. This project will ensure the business's growth by increasing its production capacity, as well as its exports and innovation capacity.

The funding was announced today by Stéphane Lauzon, Member of Parliament for Argenteuil—La Petite-Nation and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence. The Government of Canada's assistance will help the recipient businesses achieve their set objectives. Their respective projects will generate total investments of nearly $4M and create 18 jobs in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

Quick facts
Today's announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister responsible for the Innovation, Science and Economic Development portfolio, which is made up of 17 federal departments and agencies, including CED and the other five regional development agencies.

Usinage Filiatrault was awarded financial assistance through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program, and Métal Marquis received funding under the Regional Economic Growth through Innovation program.
