Premier African Minerals (AIM: PREM) Rapidly Advancing RHA Tungsten Project Located in Zimbabwe

on 1/25/2015
George Roach, the CEO of Premier African Minerals, took the time to speak with Metals News regarding the progress that the Company has made on the RHA Tungsten Project, located on a historic site in Zimbabwe.

PREM Mine

Currently, the main focus for Premier is on the RHA Tungsten Project. The Company is at the late stage of redeveloping the previously known and previously mined tungsten operation, with recent progress including: the complete dewatering of the Old Mine workings, the reestablishment of access to the historic underground workings, the completion of the open pit mine design and scheduling, the confirming and securing of suitable water sources, and obtaining an agreement to re-use the old tailings facility for their start-up strategy.

Mr. Roach explained the importance of these recent achievements, "Premier is making significant progress in bringing the RHA mine back into production. Each step further de-risks this project and assists in reaching final financing decisions.” As well as the low capital requirements and the large abundance of resource, Roach believes that the deposit has an even further upside adding to the production potential.

Due to the fact that the area has been mined before, the Company also has plenty of historic data and extensive exploration information on the mine, which further de-risks this high grade, low capital project: “As it is an old historical mine it carries significantly lower risk in terms of geological and metallurgical mining,” Roach says. “It is subject to a relatively low capital requirement in the region of $4.5million.” The Company is also in the final stages of negotiations with an off-take partner and will make an agreement on further financing soon.

Wolframite

Although Premier African Minerals is the sole operator, the company works with both African and other worldwide partners to get the projects moving forward. The recently completed order on the process plant, which has a throughput rate of 8,000 tonnes per month and a recovery of 82.8% wolframite, is evidence of how well the project is coming along, or, as Roach explains, is “just a further step in the process of reopening the RHA mine.”

As well as having one of the highest grade, lowest capital tungsten assets around, another asset is the considerable local experience in their team, for example: their mining engineer is a Zimbabwean with 30 years of experience in the industry; their COO, Werner Swanepoel, has over 23 years experience as a mining engineer; and George Roach’s own extensive experience in developing natural resource businesses in Africa demonstrates that the technical expertise in senior management is also at the core of Premier African Minerals’ strong track record. In addition to staff from Premier African Minerals, the company uses a variety of African and globally based consultants to drive the project forward.
