Discussion with James Buskard Nevada Exploration Inc. (TSXV: NGE): Discovering gold in Previously Unexplored Regions of Nevada, Using Hydro-Geochemistry

on 6/7/2016
Nevada Exploration Inc. (TSXV: NGE) is focused on discovering gold in previously unexplored regions of Nevada, using hydro-geochemistry. The idea is that half of Nevada's territory is covered by sand and gravel and therefore has not been systematically explored. Nevada Exploration has developed and applied the science of Groundwater Geochemistry to look under cover. Currently the company is advancing a portfolio of brand new projects that have all been identified using this technology. James Buskard, President of Nevada Exploration, whose background is in Geochemistry, is proud of their team of geologists, who have collectively been involved in more than 30 million ounces of gold discovered in Nevada. According to Mr. Buskard, Nevada Exploration is the world leader when it comes to hydro-geochemistry and exploring for gold.

Dr. Allen Alper: My! Your company's doing a lot of interesting things. This is Dr. Allen Alper, Editor-in-chief of Metals News interviewing Mr. James Buskard, president of Nevada Exploration Inc. I could see, between you and other members of management, you really have an experienced team. You have an excellent approach, looking for gold properties, using geochemical techniques. Could you tell me a bit about your company?

Mr. James Buskard: Absolutely. We founded Nevada Exploration and its predecessor back in 2004, specifically to target new approaches to exploring in Nevada's covered basins. We recognize that there's nowhere in the world that is endowed with the density of major gold deposits of north central Nevada. But the challenge now is that the half of the state where the bedrock's exposed in the range has been very effectively explored by several rounds of very competent geologists. More work in those exposed settings has really generated less and less in terms of discoveries, despite more and more dollars being spent through the last cycle. Continuing to invest more resources, using older tools, and looking in older parts of the jurisdiction just wasn't working. We decided that we needed to look at a way to look under cover?

We looked at hydro-geochemistry, which is basically sampling groundwater, as a tool that's been used very effectively to explore for other commodities, a lot of base metal exploration, uranium, through the Balkans and Quebec, and other parts of the world, but hadn't yet been applied to gold. The technology wasn't there to analyze water down to the very low concentrations that are important for gold exploration. Using the latest generations of mass spectrometers, we can now analyze water directly for gold. We are now using this technology to explore for gold in Nevada.

We're the first group that has been pushing hydro-geochemistry exploration for gold in Nevada, and we've now completed the first groundwater chemistry of Nevada for gold. We're advancing a portfolio of brand new projects that have all been identified using our technology.

Dr. Allen Alper: That's really fantastic. That's great. I noticed your background is in hydro-geochemistry. That puts you in a great position to help manage that kind of effort.

Mr. James Buskard: Yes, we have a great team. Wade Hodges, our CEO and Ken Tullar our COO, together, have been involved in more than 30 million ounces of gold discovered in Nevada. There have only been 250 million ounces discovered in Nevada and more than 30 million of them have been discovered with our management team being involved, that represents a very experienced group. We had another member of our team, a geochemist by the name of Paul Taufen who passed away, but he was instrumental in helping us overcome some of the technical hurdles, to get this going.

My background's in groundwater chemistry, as well. We're very fortunate we've brought together a group of people with complimentary skill sets. This past summer we've added some new members to the team. Dennis Higgs joined us as Chairman from Uranerz. He was Executive Chairman of Uranerz, for over nine years. It sold for over 150 million dollars Canadian. He comes from a very strong finance background. With a strong technical and finance team, we think we have all the pieces in place to lead our peers through this next cycle.

Dr. Allen Alper: That's great. Could you tell me what your plans are for this year and 2017, and what your goals are?

Mr. James Buskard: Yeah. Since acquiring our portfolio of projects, we've managed to hold on to most of our land position through this past downturn. Through the last cycle we invested in several rounds of early stage drilling, surface geochemistry, and a lot of geophysics. At most of our projects we’ve already invested more than a quarter to a million dollars of early stage exploration work. All of these projects are ready for first or second stage drilling programs, and so our focus through this upcoming field season and into 2017 is going to be advancing these projects with drilling.

Dr. Allen Alper: That's very good. Could you tell me about your finances and your corporate structure?

Mr. James Buskard: We're in the process of having a wave of warrants being exercised so 200,000 dollars of warrants are coming in this week. I don't have the exact share capital numbers on me at this moment, but it's somewhere around 35 million shares outstanding. More than half of that's controlled by insiders, management, and family members, and our top 3 long term shareholders. We're an exploration company, so no significant revenues. We're always looking to finance, obviously. We like to think that the financing window might be open again and we're looking at how to position ourselves to participate in this next round of financings.

Dr. Allen Alper: Thank you. That's very important that insiders and management have enough faith in what you're doing that they are highly invested. That's excellent. Could you tell me the primary reasons why our high-net-worth readers/investors should invest in your company?

Mr. James Buskard: I think the biggest reason is that nowhere else in the world has the density of gold deposits as north central Nevada, and half of that area sits beneath the valleys largely unexplored. We consider this to be the biggest buried treasure, the biggest opportunity anywhere in the industry. We’re trying to find the missing half of Nevada's gold. which I think is a really important piece of anybody's investment portfolio that wants to be exposed to the upside of gold exploration. If that's the biggest treasure to be found, none of our peers has anything close to what we have in terms of a focused, undercover exploration program. We are the world leaders, when it comes to hydro-geochemistry and exploring for gold. As far as we know, we're the only junior explorer company that's 100 percent focused on exploring in Nevada's covered basins.

Dr. Allen Alper: That's excellent. Is there anything else that you'd like to add?

Mr. James Buskard: No, I think you hit it. We have a strong team, both on the technical side, and on the finance side. Our capital structure's tightly held by insiders that have continued to fund this themselves and remain committed. We feel that our technological edge gives us a lead over our competitors, and we've been building the foundation of this since 2004. Everyone that's getting involved in the company now, new investors are enjoying the benefit of a foundation that's been built over a long time.

Dr. Allen Alper: Well that sounds excellent. You have the right team. You have people who could get funds, and you're in the right place, and have the right exploration technique. It sounds like your company's very well positioned to discover gold.

Mr. James Buskard: I think that’s a good summary of our story.
