One of the people attending the recent Hard Assets Convention in San Francisco was Howard Fitch, who worked for organizers Cambridge House International from 1997 until 2010. He became President of their Conference Division in 2003 and so was responsible for providing all their conferences.
Upcoming Events
Howard left Cambridge House International in July 2010 to set up Market Edge Media, which runs a series of investment events that aim to link public and private issuers with personal and professional investors. There is a series of events over the next year at various venues.
They did an event in December in Shenzhen, China. They worked on that with NAI Interactive of Vancouver. They had about forty companies and some newsletters and speakers. China Merchant Securities was the lead sponsor in China. Actual retail investors as well as industrial and institutional investors in China were invited.”
The event was staged in the Sheraton Shenzhen Futian Hotel and attracted attendees from mainly Hong Kong and southeast China. The aim was to link the many investors in the region with the investment opportunities that are there.
“After that, we're going to be doing an Investor Relations Conference on January 20 in Vancouver for investor relations officers, public company executives, etc.,” says Howard. “We are working with the Canadian Investor Relations Institute on that conference. There's going to be a lot of content there, which will be pertinent to anybody that plies their trade in investor relations, marketing or similar.”
The Investor Relations Conference is a full day educational event at The Fairmont Waterfront. It will cover various topics that include dealing with analysts, managing investor relations, regulations, different markets, crisis management and raising capital.
Next up is the Technology Metals Summit at the Hyatt Regency Toronto on February 1-2 2012. This is hosted by REE World and will bring together the rare earth, rare metals and critical metals industry sectors. It has various keynote and other speakers and should be of interest to industry leaders and members of the investment community who want to learn about Chinese export quotas, production and manufacturing cycles, applications and other topics.
Capital Conferences
Market Edge Media runs a series of Capital Conferences that provide a full day of intensive 20 minute one to one meetings between resource exploration companies and finance teams. It's an opportunity for those companies needing finance to find out how to raise it. The first of these events is the Whistler Capital Conference at The Fairmont Chateau Whistler, running from February 17-19 2012 with a follow-up event at the same venue on September 7-9 2012. There's a similar conference at Scottsdale on April 13-15 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess and in Toronto from June 1-3 2012 at the JW Marriott Rosseau Muskoka Resort and Spa.
During the PDAC at the Metro Toronto Convention Center, Market Edge Media is running 'Geological Framework for the Business of Exploration and Mining' on March 7-8 2012. It's presented by David Groves and is a CECAP accredited course that teaches about geological real estate value and the business of assessing the best value. It comes with a course note book, buffet lunch and refreshments. Those likely to benefit are retail brokers, investor relations officers, mining sector issuers, company directors, analysts and any professionals involved with exploration or the mining sector.
The last event scheduled so far for next year is the Stocks 2012 Conference that's set for the Hyatt Regency Hotel & Convention Center in Vancouver during October. This is an investment conference that provides expert insight into the stock market. It's likely to be of interest to professional and private investors, providing education and information.
