North American Nickel Maniitsoq Project Update Crews Arrive on the Property, Drilling and Geophysical Surveys Begin
Vancouver, British Columbia, June 29, 2015 – North American Nickel Inc. (TSX VENTURE: NAN) (OTCBB: WSCRF) (CUSIP: 65704T 108) (the “Company”) is pleased to provide a project update on the 100% owned Maniitsoq nickel-copper-cobalt-PGM project in Southwest Greenland.

The Company’s key objective this year is the continued systematic exploration of the Maniitsoq property (2,954 square kilometers) including; drilling of up to 30 diamond drill holes following up on high priority nickel mineralization and geophysical targets; completing the acquisition of VTEM airborne EM data over the Greenland Norite Belt (GNB); and continuing our efforts to reduce overall project economic risk by advancing key infrastructure initiatives (like the Seqi Port) and NAN’s corporate social responsibilities.

Field crews are now on site at Maniitsoq and work has begun on the Company’s multi-component exploration program which comprises drilling, airborne, surface and borehole geophysics, mapping, sampling and prospecting. Figure 1, which may be viewed using the link provided with this release, shows the location of selected 2015 drill targets and of planned airborne geophysical survey blocks.

DRILLING

Approximately 6,000 metres (up to 30 drill holes) of BTW (41mm) diamond drilling is planned in order to:
  • test for the down plunge extent of nickel sulphide zones intersected at Mikissoq and Spotty Hill in the Imiak Hill Complex (IHC) area;
  • follow-up of both nickel sulphide intersections and high conductance borehole EM anomalies obtained in 2014 including at the Fossilik area, P-013, P-030 and P-053 targets and;
  • test prioritized regional targets.
The drill rig and crews arrived June 23 rd and drilling has commenced in the IHC area. Downing Drilling of Hawkesbury Ontario has been contracted to carry out the 2015 drilling program.

GEOPHYSICAL SURVEYS

Geotech Ltd of Aurora, Ontario is now on site and will be carrying out an approximately 6,500 line km helicopter-borne Versatile Time Domain Electromagnetic (VTEM) to complete coverage over the high priority Greenland Norite Belt (GNB) and other selected target areas on the district scale Maniitsoq property. Twelve separate survey blocks will be flown at a line spacing of 100 to 200 metres.

Surface geophysical surveys comprising time domain electromagnetics (TDEM) and gravity will be carried out, respectively, by Crone Geophysics Ltd of Mississauga, Ontario and Eastern Geophysics of Pubnico, Nova Scotia. The TDEM surveys are planned over target zones with known prospective nickel mineralization as well as untested VTEM targets that require further definition prior to drilling. The gravity survey is designed to provide coverage over a concentration of exploration targets and norite intrusions located in the central portion of the property including the mineralized P-013 norite where the Company intersected 5.85 metres (core length) of 2.07% nickel and 0.12% copper in hole MQ-14-066 in 2014 (see press release November 3, 2014).

Borehole TDEM surveys, to be carried out by Crone Geophysics, are planned for all drill holes in order to identify and quantify additional EM anomalies and to aid in drill hole targeting.

GEOLOGY PROGRAM

In addition to drilling and geophysics, the Company will also be implementing an in-house geology program comprising mapping, sampling and prospecting of target mafic-ultramafic intrusions as well as ground follow-up of VTEM targets. This work is focused on outlining trends of prospective mineralized intrusions and prioritizing EM conductors for potential drill testing in order to more quickly focus exploration efforts on the Company’s large property position. A directed structural mapping project will be carried out by SRK Consulting Canada Inc. of Toronto, Ontario and is based on the desktop structural interpretation carried out by SRK in 2014.

About North American Nickel

North American Nickel is a mineral exploration company with 100% owned properties in Maniitsoq, Greenland and Sudbury, Ontario.

The Maniitsoq property in Greenland is a Camp scale project comprising 2,954 square km covering numerous high-grade nickel-copper sulphide occurrences associated with norite and other mafic-ultramafic intrusions of the Greenland Norite Belt (GNB). The >75km-long belt is situated along, and near, the southwest coast of Greenland, which is pack ice free year round.

The Post Creek/Halcyon property in Sudbury is strategically located adjacent to the past producing Podolsky copper-nickel-platinum group metal deposit of KGHM International Ltd. The property lies along the extension of the Whistle Offset dyke structure. Such geological structures host major Ni-Cu-PGM deposits and producing mines within the Sudbury Camp.
