Investors
and resource companies will be quick to admit that the resource industry has
been hit pretty hard in recent years. Stock prices have plummeted. Funding is
hard to get. Exploration is becoming more challenging with the lack of money.
But
industry experts believe that there is a change happening – that the industry
is starting to make a slow turnaround, not unlike the long distance needed for
a train to get up to speed from being nearly stopped.
And
what better place to prepare for that turnaround, and all of the exciting
opportunities that a turnaround provides, than at the Prospectors and
Developers of Canada (PDAC) Convention 2014.
The
well-known, well-attended convention attracts thousands of visitors from around
the world. In fact, in the past two years (in spite of an industry-wide
slow-down), attendance broke through the 30,000 benchmark, with nearly a
quarter of that audience from international delegations.
There’s
something for everyone interested in the resource industry, regardless of
whether you work in it or invest in it:
Industry insiders will find PDAC to be
the best use of their time to reach other industry insiders – to cut deals,
open discussions, swap insights, share best practices, network, and show off
their successes. And there are numerous short courses available to educate you
on such topics as:
·
Health
and safety
·
Extracting
information from geochemistry
·
Developing
a cash flow
There
will also be a session on alternative financing, which is sure to attract many
industry peers that are looking at creative ways to fund exploration and
development. As well, a keynote speaker will provide a presentation on
Ontario’s mineral-rich “Ring of Fire” region.
Investors will find PDAC to be
the place to meet companies and perform the due diligence necessary to find
great deals in a market that has struggled. You’ll be able to meet face-to-face
with company representatives and ask the tough questions that investors should
ask. And you’ll hear from a line-up of popular speakers. Currently scheduled
speakers include:
·
A
letter-writer’s presentation, a popular session that brings together top
newsletter writers who share their insights
·
Presentations
from several countries, sharing insights in investing in their resource sectors
Along
with invaluable presentations, investors will find the trade show to be an
exciting opportunity to learn more about potential investments.
Every
year, PDAC builds on the successes of the past years. This year also includes
technical programs, the core shack, a program about aboriginal relationships, a
women in mining social event, and other luncheons and social events… and so
much more.
From
the Innovation forum to the Corporate Social Responsibility sessions; from the
exhibits to the capital markets program… industry leaders and investors will
find powerful, actionable insight at PDAC, as well as the opportunity to
connect with others.
PDAC
2014 will be held from March 2 to March 5 at the Metro Toronto Convention
Centre. For more information, and to register, visit http://www.pdac.ca/convention.
The
market hasn’t been easy in the past couple of years but some people are seeing
a turning tide. There is no better way to prepare for the opportunities to come
than to attend PDAC 2014.
